Leadership Skills for Clergy in the 21st Century
Seminaries prepare clergy in the fields of preaching, Biblical studies, church history, doctrine and polity, and some in counseling. Few clergy have had formal training in leadership skills. In the parish the demand for leadership is constant. This workshop helps you identify your current strengths as a leader, enhance those strengths and build on them. It also will train you to develop leadership in others, and create a church culture driven by vision and ministry. Some clergy have said, “Wish I would have had this training the first few years of my ministry.” Others have said, “Nothing prepared me for leadership demands in the church, but this training has turned my ministry around.” Every judicatory would be wise to provide this for their clergy.

Clergy Cadres

A consultant provides further skill development and participant case studies are developed, critiqued and supported. Clergy from all denominations are encourage to join in this powerful vehicle for professional development and self-care.

Prayer Skills for Maturing Christians
This workshop helps the individual as well as any church develop their skills or prayer, mediation, contemplation, and reflection.  These skills help us in developing a more intimate relationship with God.  The training comes from a study of prayer across Christian history, the prayer strategies of Jesus and the many of the church's important spiritual leaders.

Participants will explore the many ways of prayer.  We will start with the simplest and move to the more engaging forms of prayer.  We will look at prayer from the Scriptures i>E. the Psalms and Lamentations.

Developing Spiritual Intelligence
This workshop helps the individual as well as any church develop their relationship with God.  It is a result of interviews with persons who were identified as spiritually intelligent.  These interviews produced seven predictable qualities of the spiritually intelligent person.  This workshop includes strategies, content, and skills to develop these seven qualities.

»Communication
Listening and Caring Skills
No other set of skills are more important for persons who are in leadership than those of being an effective listener.  Most of us think that we may listen very well.  In reality most of us are thinking up what to say next when the other person stops talking.

The listening skills in this workshop provide powerful reflective, understanding and interpretive processes to make sure that what the person said is heard both at the surface level - the actual comments - and the deep structure meaning which is hidden in the verbal messages.  Structured practice in each of the listening skills enables the participant to begin acquiring the skill.

Inspirational Presentations: It’s All About an Authentic You!
Clergy have an ever-present and daunting task to inspire their congregation and communities, through worship services, sermons, one-on-one interactions, council meetings, grief counseling, or visiting the sick or drop-outs. Talented religious leaders can feel very anxious about giving presentations. At the core of this workshop is the belief that there’s a religious leaders feel anxious when presenting – and that once that reason is understood - they can change their behavior through their own authentic style.  Preparation, discipline, and practice are essential. Live videotape simulations help master key skills in this exciting workshop. For participants, the workshop turns “scary” into “skills.”

»Change and Transition

Tools for Change and Transition
This workshop helps the individual as well as any church develop skills and strategies for making both personal and group/institutional changes and transitions.  Our culture does not teach these processes very well.  We tend to manage our changes with randomness and thus are often caught off guard when we are forced to make changes.

In the past ten years many studies and processes have been developed to help us manage the changes and transitions that are inevitable in every person's life.

Conflict Management and Resolution
This workshop helps the individual as well as any church develop skills and strategies for managing both personal and group/institutional conflict.  Our culture is very poor in teaching us these processes.  We tend to manage our conflict from the modeling that we have received in our homes.  Sometimes these are very helpful but other times they are woefully inadequate.

In the past ten years many studies and processes have been developed to help us immeasurably in how to mange what is inevitable in every person's life.  Namely, we all get into conflict at some time in our lives.
